Barbados has recorded its fourth homicide of 2025. 23-year-old Colombian John Esteban Hernandez has been charged with the murder of his uncle, 50-year-old Pedro Berrio. Hernandez allegedly stabbed Berrio during an altercation at their Maxwell, Christ Church home on January 14, 2025. Berrio succumbed to his injuries two days later. Hernandez appeared in court and was remanded to DODDS Prison until March 20, 2025, after waiving the automatic 28-day legal requirement.
