The Cultural Expansion Program (CEP), in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and the National Peace Program, has launched an initiative to use culture as a tool to address crime. Endorsed by Senator Dr. Shantal Munro-Knight and Hon. Corey Lane, the program focuses on music, creativity, and community engagement to promote peace and positive change.

As part of this effort, the SCHOOL REP initiative—a nationwide interschool social media song contest—will be introduced. The contest encourages students to showcase their talents through music while fostering friendly competition and school pride. Participants will submit videos to Instagram, with public voting determining winners who will receive cash prizes, including funds for school music programs.

The initiative aims to provide at-risk youth with meaningful opportunities for creative expression, financial empowerment, and non-violent conflict resolution. Organizers emphasize that while change will take time, this program is a “seed of change” designed to reshape future generations through culture.
