Data on Non-Fatal Incidents in Barbados for January 2025

This website is a work in progress. Things are still being tweaked, and numbers may be under-stated.

The barbadoscrimeblog.com website is a spin-off from my homicide data and analysis over at caribbeansignal.com. The primary objective of this site is to cover media reports of non-fatal violent crime (i.e., robberies, shootings, et cetera), and to bring a similar level of analysis as I did with homicides. The secondary objective is to capture news on arrests, analysis of who was charged, and other crime related matter. Monthly homicide data will be published here as well from next month.

In order to capture incidents and events from the start of 2025, I’ve combed through the Facebook feed of Stetson Babb (a well known and respected Barbadian journalist), summarized them, applied various categories and tags (if you are on mobile scroll to the bottom of this site to see them), and posted them.

Categories and tags are important on this blog. It makes it easier for visitors to find specific crime reports. For example, if a post is about an armed robbery, I use the “ArmedRobbery” category. If there is a shooting, then that post will have a “Shooting” category. A tag provides additional detail. For example, if there was a shooting in The Pine, the category would be “Shooting” and the tag would be “The Pine.” If you are on a mobile device, the category cloud is at the bottom of the screen. If you are on a laptop or computer, it will be to your right. I am still tweaking categories and tags.

Here is what January’s category cloud looked like (this is the first and last ‘monthly’ cloud count as numbers from Feb onwards will just add to the existing count):
